The ads are just as fun. Household items were designed with care and flair. Clothes were gorgeous. Did women really dress up that much at home? I once watched a 1960s promotional video for Disneyland where all the men wore suits, the women wore dresses, gloves, and heels, and even the children were dressed up like they were going to church. That's a bit much, but after every trip to Walmart, I'm convinced we've gone too far the other direction.
The 1959 food ads, however are celebrations of all things processed and packaged.
