For more than thirty years I have been painting watercolors and exploring my surroundings and journeys through this rich medium. By layering multiple washes I capture the vibrant color saturation of our world. While continuing to work in watercolor I am also reconnecting with oil painting.
I’m from the border region of the Rio Grande Valley in Deep South Texas where tropical colors and a wealth of cultural traditions abound. I have also lived in places as diverse as Idaho, Malawi in Southern Africa, Montana, and Oklahoma. For two years my husband, three cats, and I traveled the U.S.A in our Casita travel trailer, volunteering in public parks in Texas and Colorado. Living as nomads during the Covid years brought into focus the sharp contrast between unsettling times and the enduring restorative character of nature as well as the endurance of essential workers and others who dedicate themselves to the common good. My goal is to create works of art that while acknowledging the very real despair that inhabits our society to this day also express hope and peace.
